Professional and Educational Chronology

1948-Born February 22 in Washington DC

1954-Began classical piano instruction

1956-Began guitar instruction with Charlie Byrd

1957-Recorded first album with The High Tones –music was Big-Band Jazz compositions.

1958-1962-Performed with The High Tones throughout the East Coast of America. During this period the group performed at many jazz festivals and for visiting dignitaries. To understand the jazz idiom 

 better I began instruction in brass and woodwind instruments. 1963-1966-Co-wrote and recorded various singles for artists on RCA, Columbia, Roulette and Mercury record labels. Became one of the youngest members of the American Guild of Organist (AGO)Performed classical and original Liturgical compositions at famous churches in and around Washington DC, including The National Cathedral. Chosen by my peers to be Student arranger/conductor of my High School Concert Wind Ensemble. Received 12 superior awards for trumpet performance representing local, state and national competitions.


1967-1969-Studied music performance at University of Maryland. I continued my education privately with one on one lessons with jazz innovator and Jazz Hall of Fame pianist Bill Evans. His influence, knowledge and wonderful ability to teach are the major reason I have attained my success in performance and teaching. During this period I performed for many visiting dignitaries and politicos around D.C. The Jazz/Rock-Fusion band Sinbad became house band at The Bayou in D.C. Performed and recorded music for television sitcom “Mulligan’s Stew”. Composed 2 film scores for Universal Pictures. Implemented Jazz Clinics in Sarasota Florida and Jazz Master Classes in St.Petersburg Florida. Co-composed “Infidel”, a contemporary jazz-rock opera, at Van Wazel Concert Hall in Sarasota Florida.Performed at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and the Jamaica Jazz Festival.

1976-1980: In Nashville became music director/pianist for Grammy Award winner Donna Fargo.

Music Director/Recording Artist on Grammy Award winning albums for Nashboro Records produced by Shannon Williams.

Pianist for Dick Clark Television Productions.

Toured extensively internationally and throughout the West Coast of America.

1980-1984: Performing with jazz greats Carlos Jobim,Stan Getz and my old teacher and friend Charlie Byrd.

1984-1994: Moved to US to Hilton Head South Carolina. FoundedHilton Head Records and Mere-Note Productions. Joined ASCAP(American Society of Composers and Publishers). Recorded and released 6 CD’s for retail market. Composed and recorded score for made-for-TV-movie “Alpha Centaur”. Started private music school for jazz studies. Composed and recorded specialty music for ESPN, Turner broadcasting, the Weather Channel and radio and television stations in the southeast US. Received various awards and recognition for musical compositions and recordings.

1990-2006: Concert jazz pianist for RCCL performing worldwide on cruise ships.

Moved to Texas in 2006.

I am a single and multi-engine pilot with over 800 hours.
